In 1968, in Stanardsville, Va, a collection of motivated citizens recognized the need for emergency medical services in their community. They came together as one and put the wheels in motion to try to construct a rescue agency. Through hard work and perseverance, the Greene County Rescue Squad was created.
We currently staff five ambulances and two response vehicles. We have approximately 40 active, certified members volunteering as Drivers, EMTs and Paramedics. We respond to over 2,000 calls a year, rain or shine, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year in our area of almost 20,000 citizens. We provide both Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Life Support (ALS). Whether it is Christmas day or just another Monday, we are here to answer 911 calls for the people who need us most. We are passionate about serving our community in any way we can. Taking care of our brothers and sisters in the Greene County community is our calling. If you feel like you also share this calling, please aid us in continuing to grow our volunteer agency.
